Abstract

Four fairy tales, based on Hans Christian Andersen and Charles Perrault, written and illustrated by Sarah Moon, reveal how photography – both still and video – and the interplay between text and image build a refreshed fictional imagination. These tales highlight the interest and possibilities offered by an artist-author’s visual approach to transpose and reactivate the narrative threads of fairy tales that are over a century old, drawing from contemporary issues.

Author Biography

Caroline Ziolko

Caroline Ziolko est professeur titulaire en art et sciences sociales à l’Esbama, France. Après des études à l'École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs, à Paris, et à de l’Université de Montréal, elle s’est orientée vers l’étude des systèmes de signes en art et communication. Sa production photographique documentaire et plasticienne est représentée en Dépôt légal à la Bibliothèque à Paris.
