In Semprun’s novel Le grand voyage Proust is present in several ways. Like the Recherche, it is a novel about the working of memory, where present, past and future are constantly intermingled, resulting in a complex temporal structure. Moreover, there is an intertextual playing around with elements and episodes from Du côté de chez Swann, and with involuntary memory. The article is investigating these analogies, showing how they are twisted into a new meaning.
