Abstract

Theories of world literature have made the notion of comparative literature becoming more and more complex, and even obsolete. This paper is about the meaning of a comparison between Proust and foreign authors, especially in terms of relation between center and periphery.

    Karen Haddad, ancienne élève de l’Ecole Normale Supérieure, agrégée de Lettres, est Professeur de Littérature comparée à l’Université de Paris Ouest Nanterre et co-directrice du Centre de recherches ‘Littératures et Poétiques comparées’. Elle travaille sur le roman européen et l’écriture à la première personne. Elle a publié notamment L’Illusion qui nous frappe (Champion, 1995), L’Enfant qui a failli se taire (Champion, 2004), et co-dirigé Proust, l’étranger, avec Vincent Ferré (Crin 54, 2010). Elle a co-organisé, avec Vincent Ferré, Franc Schuerewegen et Sjef Houppermans, différents colloques sur la lecture de Proust dans une perspective comparatiste
