In Le Black Note by Tanguy Viel, jazz serves both as a theme that shapes the identity projection with which the characters identify, and as a creative process that disrupts the linearity of the narrative discourse. This article seeks to describe the effects of this dual influence on the development of the narrative voice, examining what the uniqueness of this voice implies for the act of storytelling itself.
