Vernon Subutex consists of three volumes which constitute a large overview of French contemporary society. The different stories experienced by marginal characters, pathological individuals and representatives of the show-biz, all of them linked to the main hero, show us their suffering as well as their moments of happiness. The narration proceeds in a baroque style where nostalgic meditation and utopian dream scenes alternate.
