Many Portuguese writers of the 19th-century read Flaubert in French, the original language. Some, specially those who were realist and naturalist writera, were directly influenced by Flaubert's Madame Bovary or indirectly by Eça de Queiroz's novel, O Primo Basílio. This paper pretends to show how it happened in Julio Lourenço Pinto, Reis Damaso and Luis de Magalhães's works.
